Talisman with IT Support thrown in.

On Dec 29th we played another exciting game of Talisman 4th edition.  Maybe it was not too exciting for some but for me it was survival.  I spent most of my first character running and hiding from the Assassin which found spell casters to be easy targets.  Plus being turned ...<< MORE >>

Christmas is here?

Every Christmas it seems I get a little more scrooged.  Is that because I am getting older?  Is it because responsibilities out weigh my joy in the season?  At this stage of my life I have to see Christmas through my childrens eyes.  They light up when its time to ...<< MORE >>

SteamPunk Again on the rampage

Once again the man who can turn anything into a steampunk piece of art is at it again. This time he is going to make an actual Steam operated vehicle.  However first he needs to build the car trailer.  Why build a car trailer when you can buy one?  Because you can.  Most people would just go out and buy a used car trailer or deck and modify it.  Not this guy he actually takes a used camper trailer and cuts it down to get the frame.  He eventually will use the back end of the camper for a play house for his daughter.

Talisman 4th Edition

A group of us finally played through the new edition of Talisman.  This version of Talisman is a throw back to 2nd edition which is so much better than the third edition.  For some reason when the 3rd edition came out the developers removed the third region and replaced it with 6 cards.  The 4th edition has the third region back.  The third edition board was also smaller (because there was no third region).  The new edition uses a large folding board which has excellent artwork.  The characters are also a fall back to 2nd edition.  Instead of the miniatures (which you had to paint) these are simply cardstock characters on clip stands.  Even the adventure cards are well made.  The only thing we would like to see back from the 3rd edition is the plastic stacking cones that we used to keep track of life, Strength, Craft, and Gold.  The 4th edition uses little squares with small numerals printed on them.  Very difficult to see...especially if you are trying to size up an opponent.

The game played out nicely and we even had to go back and read the rules because the river crossing has changed back to 2nd edition rules which means you have to fight the black guard at the bridge to get across.  No more paying 1gp and slipping across.  I made into the third region one step in front of my friend.  He however made it to the Tower before I could get past the werewolf.  This gave him the Crown of Command.  I caught up with him and we fought for about 5 rounds until I was defeated completely and he had about 2 life left.  He then used the Crown to wipe out the rest of the players but it was a close game.

I think we will be seeing this game out again soon.

Lost my Blog

Looks like GoDaddy who owns the QuickBlogCast site has lost my domain websites.  All my domains sites are going to an under construction page at Network Solutions a competitor of theirs.  I hope they fix my domain name records soon.

3:10 to Yuma

3:10 to Yuma. 4 stars

I had a slow day the other day and decided to take a long lunch and catch a discounted rate movie.  I had my choice of Bourne Identity and 3:10 to Yuma.  Since I always love a good western I chose Yuma over Bourne.  The ...

I miss my Squad Leader

A couple months ago I was selling a bunch of vintage games on Ebay.  One of which was Squad Leader.  I owned Squad Leader for almost 30 years and kept it in great condition.  Mainly because none of my friends dared play it.  The rules were so advanced for a ...
