Katy Kung Fu

About 4 months ago I accidently found a new Shaolin Kung Fu training center in Katy.   My daughter and I were waiting for a Pizza to finish being made and so we went for a walk around the complex.  I looked down an unused corridor and saw a banner for Shaolin Kung Fu.  Since I have always been fascinated by the performance aspect of Shaolin Kung Fu I checked it out.  My daughter and I came back the following Monday for a free lesson.  At the time I was one of 3 students (one kid, my daughter and myself).  The workout was exhausting but the energy I came away with was amazing.  They had this 40 year old jumping, rolling, cart wheeling, punching, kicking, grappling.....and I loved it.  My daughter also loved it.  In fact I looked over at her during the grappling and she had the Master on the ground (my daughter is 7 and weighs nothing).  I thought for sure he was just being nice until we got home and she wanted to try it on me.....she did it right and she put me to the ground.   Over the last 4 months I have gained enormous amounts of energy and strength from Shaolin Kung Fu.  It may not be the best defensive combat oriented martial arts (because it is performance oriented) but it is definitely the best work out I have ever received from a Martial Arts program.  Before Kung Fu my knees hurt, my shoulder hurt, my lower back really hurt.  My legs and shoulders are stronger.  I am leaner.  My flexibility is coming back and my back is healing.  I also discovered recently who Master Shi Xing Hao really is.  He is the real deal.  See this magazine article regarding him:
http://ezine.kungfumagazine.com/magazine/article.php?article=106 .  You can also read about him at the katykungfu.com or http://www.houstonshaolin.com/.  He and two other Shaolin Master came here in 98 with a performance group and remained behind to start the houston shaolin kung fu.  He just opened the Katy Kung Fu in February of 2008.  Here is a picture of my daughter with him.
